People. Place. Belonging.
Syatt Elevates
Syatt Elevates helps governments, park systems, foundations, community organizations, and institutions turn completed plans into places and programs people actually use, trust, and claim as their own.
The launch of Past, Present, Future, a community photo exhibit installed along the fences of Kerruish Park. Images spanning generations show families, young people, and decades of engagement in Kerruish Park and the surrounding neighborhood. The evening also marks the official launch of the Friends of Kerruish and Arthur Johnston Parks (KAP) and the soft launch of the Johnston Run Nature Corridor. Slow Roll Cleveland riders stop by along the way to learn the story of the Village and Mayor Arthur R. Johnston.
This neighborhood has always had a story worth telling. In 1929, the Village of Miles Heights elected Ohio's first Black mayor, Arthur R. Johnston. Today, the park that carries his name is where that history meets our future.
The Johnston Run Nature Corridor matters too. When you drive down Osborne Road and East 143rd Street, you're driving through the Mill Creek Watershed. That water flows to the Cuyahoga River and then to Lake Erie, where Cleveland gets its drinking water. Caring for this corridor means caring for every family that turns on a tap. Neighbors, partners, and young people are stepping up to protect it, and this is just the start.
