All Aboard: Syatt Travels to New Orleans by Rail

What This Is

A four-day Syatt Travels trip by train, with a full day exploring Chicago, two nights in the French Quarter, and a dinner jazz cruise on the Mississippi River.

Why It Matters

New Orleans is one of the great centers of Black culture in America. It's the birthplace of jazz and home to brass bands, second lines, and food traditions that shaped the nation. Traveling there together by rail slows the trip down, making the journey part of the experience and giving the group time to connect.

What to Expect

  • Thursday, Oct 1: Depart Cleveland for Chicago. Breakfast at the iconic Lou Mitchell's, then free time to explore the city.
  • Friday, Oct 2: Arrive in New Orleans. Explore on your own.
  • Saturday, Oct 3: A free day in the French Quarter. Explore Café du Monde, Jackson Square, Bourbon Street, the French Market, and an evening dinner jazz cruise aboard the Steamboat Natchez.
  • Sunday, Oct 4: Depart New Orleans for Chicago. More city exploration before heading back to Cleveland.
