This season I've been showing up for Syatt, where we teach kids how to ski and snowboard. Being part of a team that makes the slopes fun, safe, and accessible is something I'm genuinely proud of.

As a Syatt helper, I spend time with kids as they find their footing,  literally. We support them through lessons, encourage them, and sometimes teach them ourselves. Some kids are nervous at first, but with a little convincing and a lot of patience, watching them go from shaky to confident is honestly so cool.

I've been skiing since I was young and earned my black diamond, so stepping into a helper role on skis felt natural. Last season I decided to pick up snowboarding and going from expert to straight-up beginner is a different feeling. I was the one falling, figuring it out, starting from zero. It hit different. But I earned my dark blue intermediate, and now I can help beginners on the board too, which makes me way more useful out there.

Helping is one thing. But one of my favorite moments this season was taking a group of our out-of-town guests sledding at Cuyahoga Valley National Park. No lessons needed. We had the best time flipping all over the place and going down that hill at least one million times.

That's what Syatt is really about. Showing up and sharing what you know. — Duke
