Syatt Honored at the 2025 National PBE Conference

Syatt honored with the National PBE Conference Outstanding Community Partner Award

The National Place-Based Education (PBE) Conference is a three-day gathering of educators, youth organizers, environmental leaders, storytellers, and community builders who believe learning should start with place, our parks, neighborhoods, watersheds, and histories.

This fall, Syatt joined the movement in Ypsilanti, MI, and was honored with a national award recognizing our powerful use of PBE across Cleveland. Our youth-led environmental work, storytelling, and community-rooted curriculum stood out as a model for advancing equity, culture, and environmental justice through place-based education.

Syatt also presented a packed-room session titled:
Unwritten, Untaught, Unafraid: Using Place to Teach What Systems Won’t  In this session, we shared our approach to connecting land, identity, culture, and environmental science while teaching the truths and histories that standardized systems often ignore.

The conference is a chance to learn, share, and connect with partners from across the country who share Syatt’s commitment to honoring place and uplifting the communities that define it.

The registration for this event is now closed.
